Amazon Echo customers have problems in Europe

According to Downdetector.com, Amazon.com’s Echo Smart Speakers suffered Wednesday failures in the UK and other European countries.

The Web site has collected hundreds of reports about the problem with the speakers operated by Alexa, the voice-activated wizard from Amazon. The reports started on Wednesday around 8 o’clock British time.
“This morning we had a problem that affected the ability of some Alexa customers to interact with the service, and the Alexa service is now functioning normally,” Amazon said in a statement.
Alexa allows Echo owners to search the Internet, check the latest news, check weather reports, play music, and even turn on the lights.
Last week, Amazon launched new Echo devices with a stronger sound, ahead of competitors Apple Inc. and Google Alphabet Inc. in the emerging category of voice-activated gadgets.
